In-Person Registration and Virtual Appointments are both available

In-Person registration can be completed in the online calendars of participating libraries.

Each library will have 2 Tax Sessions per day.
a Morning or AM Session and an Afternoon or PM Session.


Registration will not be open for an entire season, but will be released in rolling blocks of time. This will help reduce “No Shows” and make more efficient use of our time.
*** Registration is for a seat in a 2-Hour Session, not a specific time. In most cases, your return will be prepared within the session ***

If registration is closed for the session you want, then you will have to try a different day and/or a different library.


There is no one site where you can register for anywhere in the county; you must choose a library and use their specific website.

Day of Tax Session

  • Please arrive on time for your appointment. Failure to be on time may affect the tax preparer's ability to assist with your taxes.
  • If you must cancel your registration, please do so in the library online calendar where you registered.
  • If you are filing a joint return, only one of you needs to register.
  • You may have to wait for your turn within the session and for the 2nd step quality review.

    • Please bring the following to your appointment:

  • Previous Year's Tax Return(s).
  • Social Security Cards and/or ITIN notices/cards or other documentation showing your taxpayer identification numbers for every individual on your return.
  • Government-issued photo ID for each taxpayer (Need NY license for all taxpayers preparing a NY tax return).
  • Checking or Savings Account Information if you want to direct deposit any refund(s) or direct debit any amounts due.
  • Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) for each individual applicable. You may receive a new one each year.
  • Completed intake form (see 13614C in forms section). If you are able to complete and print the online Intake Form or fill it out by hand, it will speed up the process.
  • All correspondence received from the IRS and your state/local taxing authority
  • Please read the list of documents needed in the form section for more details about what forms to bring for income, payments, deductions, health insurance and credit/adjustments.

    The slots for in-person tax preparation are very likely to fill up, due to our limited resources. In that case, you may want to do your return using our Virtual Tax Preparation.

    It’s important that, to use this method, you must have the following technology available:

  • A computer/laptop/tablet/smartphone
  • Working camera on computer/laptop/tablet/smartphone
  • Working microphone on computer/laptop/tablet/smartphone
  • Access to internet
  • Personal email address
  • Ability to scan your documents (a family member or other can help)
  • You must upload your scanned documents directly to a tax program link that we will provide. If needed, we can provide you guidance to accomplish this.
  • Access to a printer to print out the return for your records and or print out payment voucher if required

    • The Virtual Tax Preparation Process:

    Our counselors will contact you using Google Meet video conferencing to review your tax situation before beginning work on your return. Counselors will prepare your return remotely and contact you by phone or email if questions arise. When complete, counselors will contact you via Google Meet video conferencing to review the return and answer any questions you have. We will ask you to electronically sign a document that gives us permission to e-file your tax return. We will help you use your tax software account (previously provided) to enter your electronic signature. Once we have your permission, we will transmit (e-file) your return to the IRS. You will receive a link to download and print your completed return.
